Artist`s Statement
I was thrilled to receive a commission from Twycross to paint these magnificent animals, and even more thrilled to meet and observe them at close quarters. Naturally, they would not oblige by standing as a family for long, but I was able to build this group from individual studies. It shows Mamphe (the dominant male) Biddi (the currently favoured female) and baby Ozala.
