This year, I am submitting a painting for the 2008 BP Portrait Award competition, run by the National Portrait Gallery, London. For this project, I have been fortunate to have as a sitter the actor Leslie Phillips, and I have developed a large canvas as a result of visiting Leslie at his Maida Vale home. Leslie is not only a fine actor, but a learned and cultured man, and I have shown him at home, surrounded by his beloved books, antiques and artefacts. Another love of his life is “Mr Big” – the cat that he holds on his lap.

The "official" unveiling took place on the 27th September, by Sir Patrick Cormack, M.P. for South Staffordshire, and the paintings were well received. I was pleased that they are now fully complimented by lights and protective curtains, when needed. It was great to see so many old friends again!
